Lazio extend their unbeaten road streak to 5 games but are unable to find the back of the net against Genoa.
Lazio was held scoreless in Genoa today in what could be described as a sloppy affair. Both teams played reckless and out of control, with minimal scoring chances. It was clear that the midweek fixtures drained both of these sides as they were unable to get settled and play quality football.
Lazio manager Stefano Pioli spoke to Mediaset Premium following the game to give his thoughts on the match.
“We did well to interpret the match, the strike was lacking, not the performance. The field gave everyone problems, we really like European football but this field was not at our level.”
Pioli was asked why Stefano Mauri got the start, to which he replied:
“Based on what I witnessed in practice I arranged the best team. Stefano is an intelligent player, he always knows how to find the right spaces to be ready to create spaces for attacks. He had some issues, but now is fit. I preferred a player that could create space.”
Lazio will look to take all 3 points in their next match against bottom of the table Hellas Verona in Rome.
