Inconsistent play continues to haunt Lazio as they fail to beat Frosinone away from home.
Lazio had a chance to move into 7th place going into matchday 26 but were unable to secure the three points needed to do so. Despite dominating possession the capital club did not create goal scoring opportunities and were frustrated by Frosinone’s defense.
Manager Stefano Pioli spoke to Sky Sport following the match and provided his thoughts on what took place at the Stadio Matusa.
“What we have in mind and what we want to accomplish becomes difficult with only draws, we cannot make up positions like this. We did not have a good first half, we played with little rhythm and without technical precision, making mistakes even with the simplest passes. In the second half we did better; creating chances but we were not able to seal the deal.”
When Pioli was asked if his players subconsciously put more importance on Europa League, he said:
“No, I don’t think so. I knew that today was an important game, three points today were essential. It was not a lack of responsibility, just the precision and rhythm.”
Pioli will now need to make sure his team is ready for the return leg against Galatasaray in Rome on Thursday.
