Fiorentina coach Paulo Sousa spoke on the eve of the second leg Europa League clash at Tottenham, where the viola will try to advance after drawing 1-1 in the first leg at home.
“Tottenham is one of the top five sides in Europe, on a technical, tactical, physical and mental level. They are young, hungry, want to do well and look to put their stamp in order to win. In the first match there was equilibrium in ball possession but we had more scoring chances which should have allowed us to win with merit.”
“Tomorrow will be an identical match like the first leg, we will need to be mentally and physically intense. If we play our game, we can make things difficult for them like we did in the second half last week.”
“I know (Mauricio) Pochettino is very competitive. We have scored in almost all our games this year, and this statistic should encourage us to start the match well tomorrow and end it even better.”
Sousa went on to provide a status on some players:
Badelj: “He just returned to training after his injury, but is doing well, training well. We will try to minimize the chance of him getting muscle fatigue.”
Borja Valero: “He had the flu and for this reason told him to remain in the hotel and train from there. He is not at risk for tomorrow’s match.”
