There are strong rumours circulating in the transfer market, that link AC Milan with Barcelona’s Cameroonian midfielder Alex Song.
Despite having only been in Barcelona for one year, Alex Song is already growing frustrated with the lack of playing time he has received at the Camp Nou since his move from Arsenal in August 2012. Having made only three appearances for the Catalan Giants this season, the 26 year old doesn’t seem to be part of Tata Martino’s first team plans for the Blaugrana.
Song’s versatility is what makes him of interest to Milan, who would be able to use him across all three roles in their three man midfield, as well as the centre back position, which is in desperate need of strengthening. He would therefore be a solid addition to the Rossoneri, who are also hoping to add – Japanese Playmaker – Keisuke Honda to their midfield armoury.
The problem with this transfer however, is that Barcelona are unlikely to sell Song for any less than the 18 million euros that they paid for him, making it very difficult for Milan to purchase the player, especially when you consider that the Diavolo were only willing to spend 12 million euros in the summer mercato.
