According to CalcioMercato.com, AC Milan have approached the reigning Premier League champions ahead of a possible transfer of star player Riyad Mahrez.
After a solid start to the season, the rossoneri are keen on adding both quality and depth to their squad in order to consolidate the Champions’ league spot they currently occupy.
AC Milan have been linked to other players in the Premier League such as Cesc Fabregas of Chelsea but it is now being said that the club’s sporting director, Massimiliano Mirabelli, has travelled to England to watch Claudio Ranieri’s side in action.
A deal for the Algerian winger may be difficult to find given that a bid in the region of €30million from Arsenal was rejected last summer and AC Milan would have to match the 25-year-old’s current salary of €6million a year.
However, the foxes are currently struggling in the league and Riyad Mahrez himself has only managed to net in the league once after 11 appearances. Although his three goals in Leicester City’s successful Champions League campaign thus far highlights the player’s quality.
AC Milan are trying to add quality to Montella’s squad to extend their excellent start to Serie A which sees them occupy 3rd place after 12 rounds.
