Serie A came to North America on Tuesday, as stars from Brazil and Chile faced off in Toronto’s Rogers Centre.
SS Lazio’s Hernanes (10 mins), AS Roma’s Maicon (90 mins) featured in the game with mixed performances, but it was AC Milan’s Robinho who stole the show, with the game winning goal at the 79th minute.
Brazil’s Hulk put Brazil ahead 13 minutes into the first half, while former SSC Napoli player Edu Vargas equalized at the 70th minute.
Robinho was subbed on in the second half for an injured Jo, and immediately proved more effective, often coming back to become involved in gameplay and to become a reference point in Brazil’s counterattacks.
AC Firentina’s Matias Fernandez proved despite his late-game employment and recorded an attempt at goal.
Juventus FC’s Mauricio Isla did not feature, while Arturo Vidal was sent back to Turin after a medical assessment.
