Former Roma striker Antonio Cassano will be released from his contract with Sampdoria.

According to Premium Sport, Sampdoria will terminate Antonio Cassano’s contract after a long protracted saga.

Sampdoria had attempted to sell Cassano last summer, but “FantAntonio” refused the transfer. As a result, he was exiled from the first team, forced to train with the Primavera and even lost his squad number.

The termination should be announced by the end of this week with Sampdoria’s lawyer Romei commenting to Primocanale on the situation:

“The termination of Cassano has been a bitter series of events, in the end it was the correct thing for both parties, and finally we can say goodbye. This is the best solution for both considering parties, given that the positions of the club and player are different but both legitimate.”

Previously, the Italian had a much more successful spell at Sampdoria between 2007 – 2011, in which the striker was integral to the clubs success. With the Blucerchiati severing ties with the ex-Azzurri forward, we await his next adventure.
