There’s been a lot of speculation surround Juan Camila Zuniga of late. The Colombian wing-back’s refused to sign a new deal with the Partonopei, holding out for either a higher wage, or so he can move to a different club altogether. The squad list for Napoli’s game against Sassuolo have been released, but Zuniga has been left off it, creating even more speculation.
However, when speaking to Channel 21 on ‘The Beauty of Football’, this is what Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis had to say “Zuniga? He remains in Naples. With Mazzarri it was a lot more spectacular, but now you have to sacrifice that.”.
He then went on to speak about acquiring Napoli’s record signing, Gonzalo Higuain, in this Summer’s mercato. “Higuain? We were focusing on [Leandro] Damiao, but I dug my heels in because he’s represented by a bad agent. Chiavelli and I contacted Real Madrid, and we reached an with Higuain within ten minutes”.
La Repubblica have reported that, if Zuniga was to sign an extension with Napoli, it would contain a clause which would allow him to join Barcelona for €15million if the La Liga holders were to table an offer.
