The definitive day seems to have finally come as Napoli look to be ever so close to securing the Belgian’s signature.
After seemingly losing out on Witsel to the likes of Everton, Napoli look to have completely hijacked the deal in which Everton had for the player. According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport Italia, Napoli have an agreement with Zenit on the basis of €23million plus bonuses.
Also, Zenit will have to pay Axel Witsel a severance. Napoli have reached an agreement with the player on wages adding up to €2.7million net of taxes in addition to half a million in bonuses. The deal consists of a 4 year contract with an option to prolong for a 5th year.
In addition to the agreement on the contract, the image rights are also being worked out as Witsel’s current sponsorship deals come to a close in January. Therefore, Napoli will receive all rights to the player once January hits.
Axel Witsel was signed by Zenit St. Petersburg in 2012 from Benfica and has since appeared in 106 matches for the club scoring 14 goals. Axel Witsel will make a great midfield addition for Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli.
