Italy were completely and utterly dismantled at the Allianz Arena yesterday against Germany, and the Azzurri skipper was not pleased with the outcome.

Speaking to Rai Sport, Gianluigi Buffon didn’t hide his displeasure with the team.

“I’m not angry or upset, I’m disappointed. We lost badly a game that has had many implications and there’s also a historical side to it we had to honor. We come off a game with Spain in which we played well, a positive result would have been the confirmation of something good done before.”

Was there too much euphoria before the game?

“Probably so. We’re a good team that becomes great when you put certain characteristics onto the field.”
