Nice forward Mario Balotelli admitted that he ‘expected’ to be called-up by Italy for this month’s International friendlies.
Balotelli wasn’t called-up for the friendlies by interim Azzurri Manager Luigi Di Biagio who was quoted saying “Balotelli has to do more than score goals”.
‘Super Mario’ sat down with Gazzetta dello Sport and commented on his exclusion.
“If I’m honest: I expected to be back in ‘azzurro’.
“I’ve matured, I’m 27 and I have two children. The time for shenanigans has long gone.
“Italy, France or England? I’m someone who lives on the edge”.
The former Inter, Milan and Liverpool forward has scored 13 goals in 33 appearances for Italy but has not featured for the national team since the final group game at the 2014 World Cup.
