Mario Balotelli is expected to be in the Italy squad for the upcoming friendlies against Argentina and England later this month.
Balotelli is currently at Ligue 1 outfit Nice and he has revitalised his career in the South of France since joining Les Aiglons in 2016.
According to Nice-Matin newspaper, the eccentric Balotelli has received a pre-selection notice.
Gli Azzurri are currently without a Manager, as Gian Piero Ventura was fired following his failure to guide Italy to World Cup qualification for Russia 2018.
Under-21 Manager Gigi Di Biagio has been placed in charge on an interim basis for the friendlies against Argentina and England and the Under-21 Coach is in contention to be handed the job on a full-time basis in June.
Balotelli has not represented Italy since the 2014 World Cup as the Azzurri suffered a Group Stage elimination.
The former Inter and Milan Striker has been in fine form for Nice since joining them in 2016 as the Sicilian has scored 39 goals in 58 games for Le Gym in all competitions.
If Balotelli is called-up, should he feature in the friendly against Argentina he will play at the Etihad Stadium; which is the home of one of his former clubs Manchester City.
Balotelli has appeared 33 times for Italy and has scored 13 goals.
