Benevento turning into Arsenal? Song and Nasri on the move

The Campanian minnows are vying to bring some once-Arsenal stars to the Stadio Vigorito.

After the worst start in Serie A history and the longest losing streak in Europe’s top 5 leagues, Benevento are still fighting for survival in Italy’s top flight.

After landing Sandro and Backary Sagna, two high profile signings in January, the club wants to bring in some of the Premier League’s once prestige players to the tiny Southern Italian town.

Enter Alex Song and Samir Nasri. The 30-year-old French midfielder has just parted ways with Turkish side Antalyaspor at the end of January following an internal dispute. While Song, the 30-year-old Cameroonian rescinded his contract with Russian outfit Rubin Kazan on deadline day.

According to Sky Sport, Benevento President Vigorito has in fact been in talks with with the two players’ representatives, but the deals are tough. Benevento are desperate to stay in Serie A, but bringing in these two players seems nearly impossible given their wage demands.
