The 29 year old Italian international won the Best Player of 2016 award at the ‘Grand Gala del Calcio’.
Bonucci spoke to Sky Sports following his acceptance of the award and spoke about what it means to play for Juventus, interest from Manchester City and more.
“There is so much Juventus inside of me, it is a matter of heart and skin. Every time I wear the shirt it moves an incredible energy. I hope to be as important for Juventus as Juventus is for me”
“It was not a decision taken lightly. When you see one of the most important coaches in the world showing so much respect and appreciation it is hard to say no. In the end my heart prevailed.
On if Juventus can capture a sixth straight Scudetto and a Champions League title.
“In terms of Serie A, we must never let our guard down. While in Europe, we must change our attitude as we can go very far in the Champions League”
On Paolo Dybala not shaking Allegri’s hand following his substitution against Sassuolo.
“Paulo has noticed that he has been disrespectful to the coach as well as the whole team. We are a unique group, and we have to prove it in situations like this. He has apologized and learned the lesson, he is crucial for us going forward.
Bonucci had an impressive 2016 campaign, where he was most notably stellar in EURO 2016 in leading Italy’s defensive unit throughout the tournament.
