Italy defeated Macedonia 3-2 on Sunday night in Skopje after coming back from a 2-1 deficit.
Ciro Immobile scored a late winner to seal the three points for the Azzurri. After the match, Italy’s legend and veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon spoke to Rai Sport.
Buffon commented on the match and his team’s performance:
“It was a very strange game. We took the lead and we were not able to manage it in an appropriate manner. We really conceded a lot of chances and it’s something we usually do not do. The good news is the result, the fact that in the end we have heart and are rewarded perhaps beyond measure, but you can see that we deserve it. The coach has everything in his hands and tries to help us implement his style of play. Every now and then even we make mistakes, but we have seven points and we are still on course.”
The Azzurri now sit at the top of Group G tied with Spain at seven points apiece in 2018 World Cup qualifying. Italy will face Liechtenstein in its next World Cup qualifier on November 12.
