After an impressive summer of acquisitions for Cagliari the club has once again been busy in the early stages of the January transfer market.
The most recent purchase for Cagliari is Leandro Castan, the Brazilian has arrived from Roma on a loan deal until the end of the season and will take the place of Marco Capuano who has gone on loan to Crotone. Castan might not be the only central defender arriving as Luca Caldirola of Werder Bremen has been heavily linked with a move back to Serie A as he is struggling for game time in the Bundesliga.

In addition to this the Sardine club is searching for a new left-back, Senna Miangue can start but Diego Lopez is looking to add more depth to the left side of the defence. Cagliari have been looking to sign are Maxi Olivera of Fiorentina and more impressively Charalampos Lykogiannis of Sturm Graz, Lykogiannis is one of the most gifted Greek players of his generation and it will be of little surprise should the player make a move during this transfer window.
With only six months left on his contract, Sturm Graz may be keen to sell as otherwise they will lose the player for nothing come the end of the season. Gregory Van Der Wiel currently occupies the right side of the defence for Cagliari but Diego Lopez is a big fan of Miguel Layun who currently plays for Porto and is looking to gain some more playing time as Sergio Conceicao is keeping Layun out of the team; a move in this transfer window would make sense as Layun is looking for some more playing time so he can make the Mexico team for the World Cup in June.
Diego Farias is also expected to leave this transfer window and has been proposed to Sampdoria, Farias likes the idea of this move as he is friends with Dodô who is currently Sampdoria’s left back, Atalanta are also interested in Farias’ services and he could be tempted as the club are in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia and the Round 0f 32 in the Europa League. Meanwhile, Cagliari could also buy a non-EU citizen and according to rumors gathered by Tuttomercatoweb.com 30 year old Diego Braghieri of Lanús has a double passport but this is unlikely because Cagliari would prefer a player with European experience.
Juventus have been interested in North Korean starlet Han Kwang-Son, the 19 year old is currently on loan at Perugia who play in Serie B and he has scored an impressive 7 goals in 19 games, however Ascoli are also interested in the young North Korean and Cagliari are unlikely to sell him as he only recently signed a new contract keeping him at Cagliari until 2022.
Cagliari are also looking for options to help improve their attack and Diego Lopez has enquired about Alberto Cerri who is currently on loan at Perugia from Juventus and also Andrea Pinamonti of Inter, however this deal is unlikely as Inter would like to keep the player in case an injury occurs to Mauro Icardi or Éder.
