Lazio recover from an early goal to crush Chievo at the Stadio Olimpico.
It was another shaky start for Lazio, who just like last week conceded very early on. The defense fell asleep on a Chievo free kick and left Bostjan Cesar unmarked. Lazio keeper Etrit Berisha was also at fault as he decided to come out only halfway, which allowed Cesar to beat him to the ball.
Following the goal Lazio was the better team. They dominated the first half but found themselves still one goal down. Chievo then went down to 10 men when goal scorer Cesar picked up his second yellow card.
Lazio finally broke through in the 66th minute when Antonio Candreva scored from the penalty spot. Six minutes later Danilo Cataldi scored a lovely goal from range, giving the capital club a lead they would not relinquish.
Lazio added their 3rd goal on a lovely combination between Felipe Anderson and Candreva along the right where Anderson drew his defender in then slotted a lovely pass for Candreva to finish.
It was almost disaster for Lazio as Stefan Radu was given a straight red for a tackle in the box. Alberto Paloschi had his penalty saved by Berisha, which for all intents and purposes sealed the victory.
The home team did add a 4th goal on a counter attack in which Keita headed home a Candreva cross to finish the game.
Mediaset interviewed Antonio Candreva who provided his thoughts about the game.
“It was a victory for everyone, we are doing well in the final half. The home victory had been missing for a long time and we want to continue this way and so the stadium is not like a theater. We are missing our fans in our curva, which makes it difficult to go forward.
“We had a great second half, we did not deserve to fall behind after only a few minutes and I believe that we played a great game. We are aiming for Europa and Lazio should be there every year, therefore we will try to have a great return leg.”
