El Pibe de Bari admits the difficulties involved in returning to his home city
Bari will be a difficult option to exercise for Antonio Cassano.
After spending his debut season with the club, in which he scored three goals but delighted the crowds (national and international) with his trickery, Cassano left Bari and seems to have turned his back to it for good.
Since the barese parted ways with Parma by rescinding his contract, he’s been shopping for his next option. Cassano has played for some of Italy’s most storied clubs like Inter, Milan and Roma, all of which would not be interested in a return. Sampdoria, with whom he had arguably the best stint of his career, is not interested either.
The only call that comes insistent is the one from home. Cassano seems to have snubbed the idea, but at Sportmediaset explains: “Bari for me is everything, I’m in love with the city, but I don’t know if I will play there. What matters to me is my serenity, my tranquilly. Bari is in my heart but it’s unlikely I’ll go play there”.
Cassano would go a long way to help a struggling Bari side to Serie A. Despite his words, the whole city awaits quietly for new developments.
