In a surprising shift The Mirror, is reporting that Chelsea may be eyeing off other defensive alternatives as Napoli refuse to budge on Koulibaly.
The London club have submitted numerous bids for the Senegal international, but Napoli want at least 50 million euros for the defender and this is considered too much even by Chelsea’s lofty standards.
As such it is now being rumoured that Antonio Conte’s side is targeting Lazio star Stefan De Vrij instead, as the Dutchman comes as a cheaper alternative at 20 million euros.
Chelsea have been targeting defensive reinforcements as they look to rebuild and climb back into the top 4 of the English Premier League.
The defensive department was often left wanting on multiple occasions as Chelsea failed to defend their title and finished a disappointing 10th.
