Chelsea has shown interest in AS Roma’s Medhi Benatia. Mourinho has reportedly persuaded the Chelsea board that 38m Euros will allow Sabatini and Roma to part with the Moroccan Center Back. Mourinho would, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, match the price submitted by Manchester United.
Rudi Garcia spoke about the defender, who Roma paid around 14m Euros for exactly one year ago. He began: “The transfer window is a special time, and waiting till the end of the market to sell or buy anyone. I spoke to Sabatini and we know that doing things in advance is better for the team.”
Chelsea is under enormous pressure and Benatia would help alleviate some of the friction in London. Mourinho really enjoys the defender, and has told the press that he “wants a full team before starting the season.”
