Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini spoke to the media following his side’s 2-0 victory over Genoa and expressed his satisfaction at the result as well as the performance.

The bianconeri registered their first three points of the new season today when they took on Genoa away from home. Traditionally, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are a particularly difficult opposition but the first half sending off meant that this would not be the case today. After going ahead through an own goal, Juventus doubled their lead through a penalty that was earned by Giorgio Chiellini. The veteran defender spoke to reporters after the game and told Sky Sport,:

“We started off the season on the wrong foot but today we were able to set our season in motion with a big win and proof of maturity against a difficult opponent. Genoa will cause problems for a lot of teams this season.”

On this season’s objectives –

“We are in no rush. We approach every week game by game. On Wednesday against Frosinone, we will look to continue our good form and pick up the three points.”

Today’s win was the side’s first clean sheet of the new season which Chiellini played an instrumental part in. After beating Manchester City in mid-week, Allegri’s side are looking like a team on the rise.
