Giorgio Chiellini’s squad have moved onto the quarterfinal of the Champions League after defeating Tottenham 2-1 at Wembley Stadium. Chiellini spoke to Mediaset Premium following the match.
Chiellini on his team’s performance:
“It was a difficult match, but the match we expected to play. At the end of the first half, despite the many difficulties we knew we were going to get chances and had to take them.”
Chiellini on his Juve’s experience:
“Fortunes favour the brace, so we earned our luck. We were a team from start to finish and we deserved it. Tottenham had their chances and are a fine team. Sometimes you just need that spark, but we had our experience and made the most of it in these circumstances.”
“Year by year, we learn and gain that experience . We were fortunate in the first year to have a good draw, but the victory over Real Madrid gave us a real boost. Considering the quality at our disposal, we need to play better. We are aware of that and need to talk about.”
“We’ll enjoy tonight up until midnight because tomorrow will be a difficult day because we’re going to say goodbye to our friend and unfortunately for us life goes on. We have many things to reflect on, but when you close your eyes, all you see is his daughter and think about what has happened and how hard it will be to accept. It will be tough for those of us who are going to the funeral. It seems frankly reductive to dedicate this win to him. His smile and positivity were more important than anything else and I hope this new Nazionale going forward will continue to grow from his positive example.”
