The horrible, gut-wrenching injury suffered by Federico Mattiello will not soon be forgotten.
His tibia, clearly broken after a challenge for possession with Radja Nainggolan sent Mattiello and his teammates into tears as the Chievo Verona loanee was stretchered off into the locker room.

Chievo Verona announces the the surgery in which the player Federico Mattiello had undergone has been perfectly successful. The player is resting in the orthopedic ward in the hospital Sacro Cuore di Negrar and will constantly be monitored before the prognosis can be identified in a definite manner. The operation, which lasted two hours, became necessary as a result of a clash in the 16th minute of the first half of the Chievo Verona – Roma game, which had caused a major fracture of the tibia and fibula in the right leg of the player.
