The interim-Italian national team head coach Gigi Di Biagio insisted that he is already looking to the future as his senior coaching debut nears.
As the days tick down to the Azzurri’s return to action following the nightmare in Milan against Sweden, Di Biagio has a pulse on the youngsters he has helped cultivate the past four years as Italy’s under-21 coach.
“My mission is to look to give enthusiasm to our football,” Di Biagio told Rai Sport on Saturday evening. “Enthusiasm away from a low point in our history.”
“We will realize in June what it means to not to play in the World Cup. Do Chiellini, Buffon and Barzagli have an Azzurri future? They’re all very important players, even today they are demonstrating that they are fundamental and are still playing well. But a head coach in today’s world has to show that they are always looking ahead.”
The Italian FA will likely make a decision on the Nazionale‘s coaching situation after the games against Argentina and England later this month.
