Sassuolo manager Eusebio Di Francesco was left frustrated by his team’s 1-0 defeat to Napoli on Sunday.
“Remind me of one other time Consigli had to make a save,” Di Francesco challenged Sky reporters after the game. “A famous team like Napoli, and they didn’t do much. I don’t believe that the result is justified by what we saw on the pitch, we certainly deserved at least a draw. Certainly Higuain had a great match, but there wasn’t much else. We were no inferior to Napoli. If we look at the match stats, there was hardly any difference between the sides.”
Sassuolo striker Leonardo Pavoletti agreed with his manager, but looked on the bright side to a greater extent: “It’s too bad,” he admitted, “But today we demonstrated ourselves to be a solid team. This is what we will build on, as we’re already looking forward to next Sunday.”
Pavoletti added: “With our coach we’re always working on offensive formations, but after the 7-0 loss to Inter last week the important thing was to improve in defense.”
