Antonio Di Natale has saluted his departing team-mate Roberto Pereyra who will join Allegri’s new Juventus. He had only high praise for the midfielder and friend:
“He defends like Vidal. But compared to the Chilean he’s equipped with more leg. He’s a great player.
There are few midfielders with his characterics; out wide, in the middle, attacking, he’s flexible and can cover many positions.
If he wants, he can be a champion. Another Sanchez – Alexis is more of a goalscorer but Roberto has a good mix of quality and quantity. They are different but I’m convinced that Pereyra at Juve will explode like Sanchez at Barcelona.”
Toto recounted of when the two watched the World Cup Final together.
“He doesn’t talk much but he’s a musical boy. I can’t remember how many times that evening he made me listen to the Argentine anthem!
Allegri didn’t even have to ask about Pereyra; he worked here at Udine, he knows he’s good.
I wish him the best for his new adventure”
Another player who has come up through the famous Udinese youth was Simone Scuffet, 18 year-old keeper who recently showed his Friuli loyalty by turning down Atletico Madrid to remain with Di Natale at the club.
“He is a Friulano. He has made a life choice. He has to study and we are happy to keep him. I hope he stays in Italy for a long time.
Will he be the next Buffon? Time will tell, but once I’d seen him a few times in training he seemed the very photocopy of Gigi at 17.
He could go to Juventus after Buffon; same goes for Real Madrid or another big club.”
The captain also said he preferred Guidolin to be the next Italy coach over Conte, but then again, “I’m biased… But they would both be suitable.”
