AS Roma officially announced the arrival of Argentine defender Jonathan Silva on loan with an option to buy.
The 23-year old left-back joins the Capital club from Primeira Liga side Sporting Lisbon on loan until 30 June 2018 with an option to make the move permanent in the summer.
Silva to ASRoma.com:
“I am very happy to have joined Roma, for me it’s an incredible feeling. I am very motivated and I want to make my contribution among this great group of players.”
Sporting director Monchi spoke highly of the former Estudiantes de la Plata defender, describing him as a “young player that has already demonstrated his personality and technical ability, attributes that have enabled him to play for a top club like Sporting.”
Once Manchester United resisted on selling Daley Blind this month, the Giallorossi quickly turned their attention towards Silva to fill the void left behind by Emerson Palmieri who joined Chelsea officially last night.
