Despite scoring an early brace in Roma’s 3-2 victory over Pescara, Edin Dzeko acknowledged that The Gialorossi made things difficult for themselves.
Having taken a two nil lead within the opening ten minutes it looked like Roma were on course for a crushing victory over their struggling opponents. However, Pescara fought back in the second half with goals form Pepe and Caprari cutting Roma’s lead to one goal on both occasions. The Bosnian International discussed his thoughts on the game in an interview with Roma’s official website.
“We started well, going 2-0 up quite early on…then we lost our way a bit, losing too many balls. It got tough out there. That’s not how is should be…they brought it back to 2-1 we managed to get the third but they made it 3-2 not long after that. It was not easy, but we’ve bagged the three points”.
On a personal level Dzeko is in fine form, taking both of his goals well with neat side foot finishes, adding to his tally for the season to 12 goals to sit on top of the Capocannoniere table, two ahead of nearest rivals Andrea Belotti (Torino) and Mauro Icardi (Inter).
“I’ve scored 12 goals and I feel good. I want to keep going like this and offer even more”.
Spaletti will no doubt be pleased to hear his forward is not resting on his laurels. Not only has Dzeko been scoring for fun this season his link up play with both Salah and Perotti has also been excellent in recent games. This season has so far seen a complete transformation from his performances last year and Roma will be hoping this form continues as they try to reduce the four point deficit between themselves and leaders Juventus at the top of Serie A.
