Rio Ferdinand has dropped a hint that Juventus full back, Patrice Evra could be on his way back to Old Trafford.
Despite being a regular and consistent performer in his previous two title winning seasons at Juventus, Evra (35) has featured intermittently over the course of the current campaign, featuring in only six Serie A games so far, with Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri preferring to use Brazilian Alex Sandro in the league with Evra starting four out of six Champions League group games for the Bianconeri.
Speculation over the France International’s future at the club has surfaced over the last few weeks, initially with West Ham reportedly interested in bringing Evra back to England. However, former team mate and now retired Manchester United Club Captain, Rio Ferdinand, had this to say on the subject;
Ferdinand and Evra are close friends and are heavily active on Social Media so this post (along with his recent Birthday message from Evra to former Manager Sir Alex Ferguson four days ago) will no doubt have the Manchester United fans very excited about the prospect of their former star, a man who won 15 trophies, including 5 Premier League Titles and a Champions League in a nine year spell, signing for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Given the fact Utd have had their problems in the left back position over the last few years, with current players Daley Blind, Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian failing to consistently impress, Evra would certainly provide solid experience in this area, especially given the fact that he hasn’t looked off the pace for Juve in the appearances he has made this season, especially in the Champions League.
However, it would be a surprise if Evra were to leave the Old Lady in the January window seeing as Juventus have made no secret of there desire to lift the Champions League this season as well as secure a 6th Serie A title in a row, especially with neither Allegri or Evra himself hinting at a move away from Turin.
