Napoli defender Federico Fernandez looks more and more likely with each passing day to be leaving I Partenopei with Swansea as a possible destination.
The Argentine defender had a good season last year where he impressed for both club and country. With Napoli bringing in Koulibaly to reinforce the center of defense ahead of the new season, Fernandez will find his playing time more limited. The Premier league is a destination that very much interests the Napoli man and it seems he will be heading there shortly with Swansea as a potential destination. With Chico Flores following his former manager, Michel Laudrup to Qatari club Lekhwiya FC, it leaves a gap in center defense for the Premier League side. To make up for the loss of the Spaniard, the Swans have targeted Fernandez. All signs are pointing to an exit for the Argentine as he was left out of Napoli’s Champions League list ahead of their qualifier with Athletic Bilbao.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Benitez told Fernandez not to take part in today’s training where they worked on tactics and played a little scrimmage. Both Napoli and Swansea are just a few details away from completing the transfer of the Argentine international. The next few hours will be decisive for Swansea regarding the negotiations for the defender.
Fernandez made 26 appearances for Napoli last season.
