Here’s how we rated the Fiorentina players during their comprehensive 4-1 defeat against Roma this evening.
Ciprian Tatarasanu 5.5
Little chance with any of the Roma goals, and offered little protection by his back-four.
Facundo Roncaglia 5
Made two excellent last-ditch blocks on Salah between the 16th and 18th minute. Guilty of not playing to the whistle for the third goal, as he bizarrely stopped and watched Digne chest the ball down to El Shaarawy. Always makes one mistake per game, that invariably proves costly.
Gonzalo Rodriguez 5
Found himself out of position for Roma’s third goal, although that was more to Roncaglia’s error. Improved in the second half, and received more protection when Badelj came on in front of him.
Davide Astori 5
Astori has played virtually all of Fiorentina’s games this season, which showed tonight. Unlucky with the deflection for Salah’s goal, but struggled with the Egyptian’s movement and trickery in behind Alonso.
Marcos Alonso 4
Like Astori, struggled with the movement of Salah. Failed to track him on the second and fourth Roma goals.
Tino Costa 4
A rare start for Costa, and one which failed to show why Fiorentina signed him. Added nothing throughout the game and struggled with the movement of Pjanic and Nainggolan.
Matias Vecino 5
Only last 34 minutes before suffering a groin injury. Like Costa, struggled to cope with the movement of the Roma midfield.
Federico Bernardeschi 4
Poor in the first-half, and did little in the second. Gave the ball away on several occasions, which almost proved costly. His final ball was indifferent at times, and he failed to impress before a watching Antonio Conte. His erratic shot in the 88th minute from long-range summed his frustrations and evening.
Josep Ilicic 5.5
Had one good chance in the first half which he fired over when hitting the target was easier. Converted the penalty well. Tried to provide the creative spark once Valero went off to no avail. Fitness clearly a worry as the second half wore on. Unsurprisingly substituted with 25 minutes left.
Borja Valero 5
Went off after 24 minutes, but struggled to make an impact during his time on the pitch.
Nikola Kalinic 5
Battled gamely with little supply or support.
Cristian Tello (replaced Borja Valero on 29 minutes) 6
Little chance to shine in the first-half, but did well to earn the penalty in drawing the foul from Digne. Did well to beat the Roma left-back on several occasions and always offered a threat.
Milan Badelj (replaced Matias Vecino on 34 minutes) 5
Surprisingly omitted from the starting line-up after a good performance on Monday against Napoli. Gave the defence more protection when he came on.
Matias Fernandez (replaced Josep Ilicic on 67 minutes) 5
Struggled to make an impact given the situation he faced when he came on.
