After a 3-1 victory away at Palermo on Wednesday afternoon, Fiorentina moved to the top of Serie A continuing the New Year as they finished 2015, challenging for the Scudetto. After the match, the Viola coach, Paulo Sousa, spoke to Mediaset Premium:

“The first half was played at an excellent level and when we had originally had the chance to score a third goal, we slowed the tempo. After Palermo scored, we did well to control them and finished off the game with a third. We are top of the table for the moment. I just want the team to continue like this. At the start of the season I said this campaign would be more competitive compared to previous Serie A seasons.”

When asked whether Fiorentina would look to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window, Sousa said:

“We need to improve the squad with more choices so that we can rotate more often and keep everyone fresh.”
