  1. Federico Ricci:

At 22 years of age Federico Ricci is reaching the point in his career where he will either push on to another level or stagnate and remain in the lower reaches of Serie A or the upper end of Serie B. A Roman by birth, his twin brother Matteo is also a decent footballer playing as he is with Perugia in the second tier.

As for Federico, he is currently on the books of Sassuolo, where he is on loan from his native Roma. Yet it was lasts season on loan with Crotone that Ricci really announced himself to a wider audience. 11 goals and eight assists in 36 matches for the Squali were key in helping the club achieve a historic promotion. What makes these stats even more impressive is that he is not an out an out striker, being more adept out wide or playing in behind the man up front. Blessed with plenty of pace, his low centre of gravity enables him to turn on a six-pence.

This season has seen Ricci make the step up into Serie A where he has appeared 17 times in the league scoring twice. All and all it has been a steady season for the youngster who has garnered plenty of experience in a Sassuolo side who have struggled to combine domestic and European football, plus crippling injuries.

A poor man’s Lorenzo Insigne, Ricci still has plenty of growing to do, but the fact that Roma have so far refused to sell him outright hints that they may think he has a bit of something about him. Anyway, if he doesn’t make it in the capital there will be plenty of other lining up to get his signature.
