The latest January Transfer Window officially opened for business this week, and AC Milan now hope to make the most of it by filling a few needs, including a winger.
With the turn of the calendar year to 2017 comes yet another January Mercato. Open and ready for clubs to bolster their side for a second half run at Europe, to avoid the drop or provide those considered surplus to requirements a chance at pitch time elsewhere.
The first half of the 2016-17 season for new manager Vincenzo Montella was nothing short of a success. Along with a new Italian Super Cup now sitting comfortably on display at Casa Milan, the Rossoneri are in the thick of things for one of the five European spots. Milan currently sit 5th — three points from third place occupants Napoli. The San Siro club has long-awaited a return to the Champions League, however the odds of overthrowing the Partenopei are not in their favour given how each club stacks up.
Montella has managed to make this Milan competitive once again, but is in desperate need of reinforcement. First-choice left winger M’Baye Niang and star hit-man Carlos Bacca have struggled since mid-October; the last time each has found the back of the net. With virtually no depth on the wings, Adriano Galliani needs to use his last months as CEO and director by adding to this department.
Here are five possible winger options the seven-time Champions of Europe could look to add during the month of January.
