Former Pescara DOF reveals that Verratti was very close to Napoli

Daniele Delli Carri, the former Director of Football at Pescara and currently at Genoa, has revealed speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss that Marco Verratti last year was very close to joining Napoli and only the will of the player made the deal collapse.

“The deal was completed, but the player refused to stay another year on loan to Pescara. Napoli was economically stronger than Juve and the player would have earned more money at San Paolo”.

This in an interesting side of the story because it was believed that Pescara wanted to keep Verratti for one more year and that the playmaker’s desire was to stay in Serie A with his hometown team, until PSG arrived with an offer that couldn’t be rejected.
