Rumors are swirling in Brazil that Gabriel Barbosa wants a one-way ticket back to his homeland to rejoin Santos but his agent has denied all reports of his intention to leave the Nerazzurri.
For a player who turned down the advances of Chelsea, Fiorentina, Juventus and a slew of other clubs to aim for his dream of playing for Barcelona or Real Madrid, it was a surprise to many when Gabriel ‘Gabigol‘ Barbosa accepted to join Inter towards the end of the summer mercato. Having been the darling of the Brazilian Série A for the past few seasons, it was normal to expect a transition period for the striker to adapt to his new surroundings. However, his stint thus far has been borderline disappointing as it has been a struggle for the young Brazilian to find space in this troubled Inter squad.
With only one appearance to his name all season, many outlets in his native country, as per FCInterNews, are reporting that Gabriel is pushing for a move back to his former club Santos to join them in their Copa Libertadores campaign. According to Brazilian daily newspaper Lance!, the 20-year old’s agent Wagner Ribeiro has since denied that his client is unhappy in Italy and wants to return home. Instead, Gabigol is working hard to fight for space within the squad, with the hopes of impressing Stefano Pioli enough to give him significant minutes on the pitch.
