Another Atalanta prospect has received their first call to the senior Italy side.
Claudio Marchisio suffered a small problem to his left leg on Monday morning and returned back home to Turin. The injury isn’t serious and he won’t miss any time the FIGC (Italian FA) confirmed later in the day.
Roberto Gagliardini, a highly rated prospect received his first selection by Giampiero Ventura in a side which features several uncapped players.
Gagliardini plays his club football at Atalanta, who is currently surging in Serie A behind a slew of young Italians coming through their system.
The FIGC released a short statement today clarifying the transactions.
“Roberto Gagliardini from Atalanta and Armanda Izzo of Genoa have been called up and they will arrive at the training facility in Coverciano during the day. It’s the first senior call-up for both players although Izzo did take place in the preparation camp for the finals of Euro 2016 in France.”
