Following his side’s 1-1 draw against Maurizo Sarri’s Empoli, Genoa boss Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to the media and expressed his dissatisfaction.
In his interview after the game with Sky Sport, Gasperini told reporters,:
“It’s a shame that we didn’t win because it was the best game we played all season. While I can accept the result, the draw leaves us with some regrets. In regards to Boriello, he is still recovering and is aiming to return to his best without a rush. Niang is doing good as are Perotti and Iago.”
When asked to comment about M’Baye Niang’s impact on his side, the former Inter boss said,:
“When I brought him in I was hoping he would have this sort of an impact. We are well aware of his characteristics. He can still improve and continue to grow as a player. I’ve been following him for a while now. He is a Genoa player and our club has to show faith in younger players because they have less chances of exploding at bigger clubs. Genoa is an ideal place for younger players to grow. At Milan he didn’t have too many chances and there was a chance to bring him in. However, we have asked for him in the past as well.”
