The rossoneri pulled off a dramatic win at the Marassi thanks to an Andre Silva header in the 95th minute. Here are the player ratings for Gattuso’s men.
Gianluigi Donnarumma (6.0): Not much for the teenager to do on this day. Didn’t have to do anything spectacular. Was beaten by a Rigoni header early in the second half which was eventually overturned thanks to VAR.
Fabio Borini (6.0): Started in place of Calabria at right back and was solid throughout. Struggled to link up with Suso on the right flank. Was eventually moved farther forward in the second half and looked much more comfortable.
Leonardo Bonucci (6.5): The captain moved the ball well across the backline and was essential in Milan’s build up play. Made a crucial block on Galabinov’s blast inside the 18 yard box.
Alessio Romagnoli (7.5): Another brilliant performance from the 23 year old center back. Made some crucial interceptions and was calm throughout. He has become quite the player under Gattuso’s lead.
Riccardo Rodriguez (5.5): The Swiss international was average on the day. None of his crosses really threatened the Genoa backline. Looked awkward at times in possession and misplaced some passes.
Lucas Biglia (6.0): Had a slow start in this one, but worked his way into the match. Had a much better second half and his distribution was spot on in the final twenty minutes.
Franck Kessie (5.0): While he has been essential to Milan’s midfield this season. The Ivorian put in a very disappointing performance. Looked lazy at times with the ball and misplaced a fair amount of passes. Milan will need Kessie to step up and improve his game going into the last part of the season.
Giacomo Bonaventura (5.5): Milan’s number five was eager to look for goal throughout the match. Came away with a couple decent shots but ultimately didn’t look his normal self and was eventually subbed off for Calabria later in the second half.
Hakan Calhanoglu (5.5): The former Leverkusen man didn’t provide much in his time on the pitch. Failed to really create in the final third and hit a very weak free kick in a great shooting position. Came off for Andre Silva after an hour.
Suso (6.5): A much improved showing from the Spaniard. Coming off a weak showing against Arsenal on Thursday, Suso showed his capabilities and put in numerous threatening crosses into the Genoa box. Provided the game winning assist on Silva’s goal.
Nikola Kalinic (6.0): The Croatian put in a solid shift on the evening despite being heavily criticized as of late. Came close to beating Perin early on in the match but was denied by the fingertips of the Italian international.
Patrick Cutrone (6.0: Came on for Kalinic early in the second half and was his normal energetic self. Struggled to link up with his teammates but kept the Genoa back line on their toes.
Andre Silva (7.5): Scored his first goal of the Serie A campaign in the 95th minute with a bullet header past Mattia Perin. The goal will do wonders for his confidence after a tough first season for the Portuguese international.
Davide Calabria (6.0): Was not fit enough to play the entire match but was a threat down the right flank once he joined the action. Provided some dangerous crosses and kept a dangerous Laxalt in check late in the match.
