The frozen out Palermo midfielder might have just found a new home. Alfredo Pedulla reported today that Genoa came to an agreement with Luca Rigoni after he chose the Ligurian club over other options.
Rigoni was one of three players that were called out by Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini after their shock elimination from the Coppa Italia at the hands of Lega Pro’s Alessandria. Zamparini’s furious outburst led to Rigoni being barred from playing for the first team and left to train with the reserves.
Zamparini would have preferred that Rigoni join a Serie B side, with Cagliari being one of the clubs interested in his services, however Rigoni made the decision that he wanted to join Genoa. All that is remains is for Genoa and Palermo to come to an agreement on a fee.
The 31-year old was in his second season at Palermo with a combined 41 domestic appearances for the club and scoring a total of 10 goals.
