Toronto FC’s Sebastian Giovinco is on course to achieve a rare individual treble this season.

First of all, with 17 goals in 24 games, second only to Columbus’ Kei Kamara in league scoring, the TFC striker is on pace to at least equal the MLS single season scoring record. With ten games to play, Giovinco needs ten goals to match the 27 scored by three other players for the most goals in a single MLS season.

Second, given his scoring exploits, along with his league leading shots totals and overall impressive play, Giovinco is in consideration for the league’s MVP award in his first season.

Finally, it seems plausible that Giovinco will also be in consideration for a recall to the Italian National Team when the Azzurri resume qualifying play for Euro 2016 next month.

For all these reasons, Italianfootballdaily.com this week begins an exclusive new feature, “The Giovinco Watch”. At every remaining TFC home game, IFD’s Toronto contributor Alf De Blasis will track all of Giovinco’s movements, highlight his key moments in the game, provide specific player statistics, assess a player rating and provide post game quotes from Giovinco, coach Greg Vanney and his TFC teammates.
