Fiorentina are concerned regarding Giueseppe Rossi’s condition after their 1-0 win over Livorno. He was dangerously tackled by Leandro Rinaudo, Livorno’s defender. It’s reported that he has injured the same knee that had kept him on the sidelines last season, and now it is feared he may be once again in doubt of returning to the field any time soon.
Reported by Di Marzio, an official statement was released by Fiorentina recently saying, “ACF Fiorentina announces that after the contrast between the Livorno player, Rinaudo, Giuseppe Rossi suffered a distortionary trauma to the knee that was previously operated. Tomorrow there will be diagnostic exams”. His condition seems serious and it’s still unknown whether this injury will have the same repercussions as the last.
Daniele Prade, Fiorentina’s sporting director, also gave his comments to Sky sports, “We will not be thinking about the Market this evening, our only concern is Rossi’s condition. Hopefully it’s nothing serious, at Fiorentina we preach sportsmanship, there were no excuses, it was a bad foul. There are fears that he has injured the cruciate in his right knee, the same knee. Hopefully it’s nothing serious, it would be a shame if it was. For us, Giuseppe is more than a football player.”
Rossi has been a key figure in Fiorentina’s Serie A campaign, making 18 league appearances and getting on the scoresheet 14 times. Mario Gomez will be returning from injury soon, so the viola would have an appropriate replacement if Rossi’s injury is in fact serious. His condition will be revealed tomorrow after the appropriate tests are completed.
