With many questions swirling around about Giuseppe Rossi’s future, a new potential landing spot has raised for the New Jersey native.
With the possible departure of Nikola Kalinic to Napoli, the Viola have been rumored to be in the mix for Griffone striker Leonardo Pavoletti.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Fiorentina seem intent on not using Rossi in their starting eleven and could use him as part of a deal to acquire Pavoletti.
The last few seasons have been quite tough for the former Italian international. Although his Fiorentina career started off with great optimism, a series of knee injuries and a loan spell to Levante have seen Rossi fall farther down coach Paulo Sousa’s bench at the Artemio Franchi. A move to Genoa may help Rossi discover his form while also being able to stay in Serie A for a team in need of quality up front if Pavoletti indeed departs.
The 29 year old striker is best known for his outstanding 2013-2014 campaign where he scored 16 goals in 21 appearances. An untimely knee injury in January plagued his season and ultimately caused him to miss most of the second half of the season.
