Roma fans have had to spend a lot of time in recent weeks worrying about their favorite players leaving.
Pjanic to Juve, Nainggolan to Chelsea, Totti in to retirement. Well things are taking a turn for the better as after Totti’s contract extension, there could be another hero in giallorosso to cheer.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports today that a deal may well be on the horizon for the PSG full back Gregory Van Der Wiel. The Dutchman touched down in Rome this morning shortly after 10 am and will be staying in a hotel in the city, not far from Trigoria.
Walter Sabatini is eager to have a face to face with van der Wiel in order to understand the player’s ambitions and his physical condition. The right back only made 17 league appearances for the French champions last season, however he would be received as a welcome addition to Roma’s defensive ranks.
If all goes according to plan, a deal could be finalised today, with the only stumbling block being the player’s wages. Van Der Wiel is holding out for EU3 million per year, whilst Roma are eager not to excede EU2.5 million.
