With the transfer window set to open there have been rumours that Juventus will try to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
With the injury struggles of Sami Khedira plaguing Juventus, Marchisio has taken leadership as regista however La Vecchia Signora have their sights firmly on a Bundesliga star to take on that role.
La Gazetta dello Sport reports that Giuseppe Marotta has put aside €30 million to tempt Ilkay Gundogan into a move to Turin with an inquiry already made for the Turkish-born German. Although the mercato will be reopen in a few days, a January move is looking more and more impossible. Should Borussia Dortmund accept a transfer for their regista, June would be a more realistic target date for a move to Juventus.
Gundogan remains at the top of Juventus’ wishlist but Juventus would also favor a move for Ever Banega in the January window. The disadvantage for the Bianconeri face is that Banega is cup-tied seeing as Sevilla featured in the Group Stage of the Champions League.
Other options for Juventus are Sporting’s William Carvahlo, Monaco’s Joao Moutinho and PSG’s Adrien Rabiot.
