Marek Hamsik scored his 100th goal for Napoli in the team’s 2-0 win over Chievo Verona on Saturday night. After the match, the Napoli captain spoke to Sky Sport.
Hamsik’s comments on his 100th goal for the partenopei and the result against Chievo:
“We wanted to win and we succeeded. In the second half we wanted to score a third goal to put the game away earlier, but that’s okay. There are so many games close together, so it was important to win. I am very happy with my achievement, it’s great for a midfielder, but what matters most is the team’s result. Right now we are doing well in the league, and we won in the Champions League; we hope to continue like this.”
The Azzurri captain also spoke about Manolo Gabbiadini when asked about the forward who scored his first goal of the season last night in the victory:
“There was so much talk about him: he responded on the field. He is a very strong player, we have many and this is good for Napoli.”
The Slovakian responded with this when asked about playing in front of the defense:
“You know that I am an offensive player, but if the coach asks that of me, I’ll do it.”
Napoli plays Benfica next in Champions League action.
