The former Italian champions are set to cut their payroll as they sit in 19th place in the league table.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Hellas Verona’s annual player tab is right around €22 million, with the highest paid player being former Italy striker Giampaolo Pazzini. The 33-year-0ld makes €2 million net, but given Italian tax law Verona is likely paying closer to €4 million.
Pazzini, according to TMW already ‘has his bags packed’ as now it’s up for the club and player to choose the best offer out there, which there are no shortage of. Parma in Serie B are reportedly leading the charge but Torino could swap Lucas Boye for Pazzini to keep the Italy man in Serie A.
Martin Caceres will be signing with Lazio in the next few days, meaning a further €700,000 net (likely around €1.5m gross) will be off the books.
Also on the way out are Daniele Verde and Mohamed Fares, who earn a combined €380,000 annually.
If those four sales go through, Verona would shed around 14% of their total payroll.
