Earlier today, Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia reported that the appeal of Napoli to the 4-match ban of Gonzalo Higuain will take place soon, here are the details of the procedure:
Unless you’ve been living under a rock these past two weeks, there’s absolutely no way you couldn’t have known that Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain was given a 4-match ban from the FIGC. This was because of Higuain’s antics after being shown a red card during the match vs Udinese a week ago. Gonzalo Higuain, after being shown red, reacted in a very boneheaded manner, laying his hands on referee Irrati, something no player should even fathom doing.
Much has been made over the decision to hand Gonzalo a 4-match ban. Some believe it is too harsh, some believe it to be too small a ban. Despite public opinion, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis will take to court on Friday to appeal the ban and hopefully retain Higuain’s services for the Bologna and Roma matches coming up. According to Di Marzio, Higuain will be in attendance to try and persuade the sport judges to lessen the ban.
The main goal of this, from Napoli’s standpoint, is to shorten the ban by two games. This would then allow Pipita to suit up against Roma in the all important match to cement at least a 2nd place finish for the Partenopei, who haven’t given up on their scudetto push just yet.
