Mauro Icardi has been heavily linked with a move away from the Nerazzurri this summer, but the Inter captain says “he feels good here and is happy to stay at Inter”

Since joining from Sampdoria, Icardi has scored 52 goals in 105 matches for the Nerazzurri. A important player for Inter, yet rumours of his departure continue to grow with Premier League club Arsenal linked with the player. Considered to be “available” at the right price, with Financial Fair Play an issue for the club.

In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Mauro Icardi discusses his love for the club, his future and his agent/wife Wanda.

“I’m here and I feel good here. I have a contract with Inter until 2019, my team. The rest is up to the club to talk about. The objective of the whole family is to stay in Milano, I have never hidden the fact that I am happy in this city and the same goes for Wanda and the children. Milano is our home. This is why she is talking to the club: our will is to find a solution. I am a professional and I am acting as one too, the rumors don’t create problems for me. The rumors don’t interest me and I don’t give much thought to what is being said or written in the press. Everyone knows what I want: I am happy to stay at Inter.”

“I’ll tell you the truth, I am an Interista, very much so. This is the team I support and these are my colors. There is a strong bond. Football is a business and everything can happen but I am wearing the captain’s armband at Inter, I’ve been here for three years and my objective is to win with Inter. I want to succeed. The captains armband means a lot to me. It does not weigh me down much because the responsibilities inside the dressing room is divided amongst everyone, but to wear it on your arm is a great honor.”

“Last season went well, but I was expecting more, I always want the maximum from myself. Next season we have the same target as last year, which we failed to meet, and that’s coming among the top three.”

“Inter deserve to play in the Champions League. Having said that, of course we’ll try going as far as possible in the Europa League. We won’t repeat the same errors because we’re growing and developing. Having played together for a few years will help us. We want to do well and pressure Juventus.”
