Grégoire Defrel is on the radar of several top European clubs and could depart in January.
All roads lead to Roma? For a few Sassuolo players, that might be the case. The relationship between the Giallorossi and the Neroverdi is very clear. Several youth players have made the trip north to the Emilia-Romagna region from Roma’s youth academy, such as Lorenzo Pellegrini and Luca Mazzitelli.
Giampiero Pocetta, the agent of the three aforementioned players spoke with Italian Football Daily on Friday afternoon to discuss the status of his clients.
“Lorenzo Pellegrini? He’s a Sassuolo player. This is a rich club, with a rich owner. The club doesn’t want to sell the player in this transfer window. Lorenzo could probably be transferred in July,” Pocetta stated.
Pellegrini does have a lot of interest from Italy and even abroad.
“Lorenzo is doing very well, he is young but already has important experience in Italy and Europe. I don’t think it is a surprise if he has a lot of [interest] in the UK. Some clubs there have already showed their interest in Lorenzo.”
“Defrel? Gregoire is another fantastic player. At Sassuolo, he is becoming a top player. In my opinion, he is ready for an important club. We have a lot of offers for Gregoire and Roma is interested in him. It is necessary to understand if the club wants to give him the opportunity to take flight!”
When quizzed about the Sassuolo project, Pocetta had nothing except praise for the Emiliani, despite their struggles this season with injuries and form.
“Sassuolo is a serious and interesting project. The club is really giving an important opportunity to several young players and they are answering with satisfaction. I don’t think it’s important regarding the relationship between Roma and Sassuolo, rather the real value of the players. Sassuolo is clever to select top youngsters.”
